Staying at La Torretta Lake Resort & Spa in Montgomery TX is like writing on this blog: no visitors.
Here is my review for TripAdvisor.
Sure, I could have gone on about how inconvenienced the dude serving us at the 19th hole was to have to fetch my mom's tea from the next building over (i.e., a minute walk that should have been transparent to us, his few guests), not to mention the fact that her tea never arrived until we were leaving almost an hour later, and what a buffoon the dude was in general (and he was training the new hire?!) but I erred on the side of just simply narrating a few of the mishaps.
It was such a wonderful trip overall, I thought, why wax on about one ill-fated lunch?
But I did forget to mention one thing: the fact that the kids could jump over the side of infinity pool to the larger pool below.
"Please, can we??"
"Sure, but wait until Grannie isn't around."

Hit the Road Jack
In news that rivals the pure excitement of our unplanned tour of Jamaica (Queens) last February, my reviews of our two back-to-back hotel stays in Binghamton, or more accurately, Vestal NY, are now posted on TripAdvisor.
First stop: The Courtyard by Marriott
Second stop: The Holiday Inn Express
The thrill never ends.

Dump and Dumper(er)
Thanks to JetBlue, we had the honor and privilege of taking a three-day tour of Jamaica! And by Jamaica, I mean Queens, of course. Is there any other?
So, of course, I had to write my reviews on TripAdvisor. I'm a sucker for giving feedback.
In case you're ever stuck at JFK, I would recommend:
Since I intend to drive everywhere I go from now on, I hope never to step foot in any of these hotels again.
It's a holiday in(n) Jamaica; it's tough kid but it's life . . .

In case you're ever stuck at JFK, I would recommend:
- The pool at the Hilton Garden Inn, if you're with kids
- The cleanliness and up-to-date features of the Doubletree Hotel, if you value normalcy
- Nothing at the Holiday Inn Express. Actually, they had some bright, colorful paintings of Manhattan on the walls. So if you choose your hotel based on artwork, this dive hotel comes highly recommended. Also, we discovered this too late but, their take-out drivers will pick up booze, if needed. (And it's needed.)
Since I intend to drive everywhere I go from now on, I hope never to step foot in any of these hotels again.

The Best of Travel with Kids
TripAdvisor just posted my review of Turtle Beach Barbados. It sounds a bit negative because I’m comparing it with other recent all-inclusive experiences but we really had a fabulous time (JetBlue aside).
I think combining all of our trips into one amazing hotel experience would be fun—preferably within driving distance. To do this, we would take the best of the best from each which brings me to . . .
The Night Sweats' Best of All-inclusive Travel with Kiddies Awards (2004-2010)
1. Majestic Colonial, Punta Cana

Better than the Betty
My brother and his family just got back from a fabulous vacation at La Quinta Resort & Club outside of Palm Springs.

As beautiful as it appears, I have to question: Is 41 pools and 53 hot spas enough? Gosh, what on earth would we do all day long? Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh. Sounds soooo good to me on this chilly, drab day.
The only time I have ever been in that area was for a regional sales meeting when I worked at American Express which took place at the Hyatt Grand Champions Resort in Indian Wells. (No, contrary to public opinion, I haven't been to the Betty Ford Clinic -- yet.) Because we played marginally instrumental roles in facilitating the sales meetings that year, a co-worker and I were placed (unbeknownst to us until we arrived) in our own, side-by-side, two bedroom villas complete with fireplaces, private backyards and spas. Apparently the hotel was filled to capacity and we were the primary recipients of the luxurious benefit. Who am I to complain?
When I arrived, I called the hubby to let him know I was safe and sound. During our call, I heard a knock so I put the phone down and answered the door. It was Charles, my butler (!), checking in to see if there was anything I needed. Nope! I think I'm okay!
When I got back to the phone, my ever-so-lovely husband, who overheard the brief conversation, put the phone up to his butt and proceeded to let one rip. What the . . ? His response, "I just wanted to remind you of what you were coming home to." Yeah, sadly that realization has never escaped me!
A moment later, Monique came to get me for dinner and noticed that I had a piece of chocolate on each pillow across my beds. She joked with her butler on the way out the door, "Hey, why don't I have chocolate on my pillows"? He appeared to be just as surprised as she was and apologized profusely.
Upon arriving back later that evening, she came rushing into my villa, "You HAVE to come see this." Her butler had taken hundreds of pieces of chocolate and placed them roughly an inch apart from one another completely covering her beds. She was ecstatic.
Now that's what I call service.

I Wanna Rock n' Roll All Night
And party every day!
TripAdvisor has already posted the review I wrote yesterday morning re: our Disney hotel. Not sure what I was smoking when I rated it a "5" out of five. Perhaps I was still asleep? Possibly compared with the dismal state of the properties in Cancun and the Deerfield Spa, this hotel was an eleven; however, the only element that really gives it a strong rating would be the kids' activities. Oh well. Since it's Disney World and that's why we were there, I guess family fun should be a more heavily weighted criterion than decor and ambiance.
Just trying to justify my error. As always, I'm a cheap date. Who needs the Ritz-Carlton when you can do the chicken dance poolside?
