Actually, it looks like an apostrophe to me. You are possessive, perhaps even greedy; frequently followed by hissing sounds; oftentimes found forcing together two things that don't naturally want to go together.
Forcing together two things like dieting and cheeseburgers? Christianity and dirty martinis? Love and obnoxious brothers?
