Why Wait?

My mom, although in perfect health, wanted her DNR (do not resuscitate) notarized and filed with her lawyer. My brother told her it wasn't necessary; we were all planning to smother her with a pillow regardless.

In preparation, maybe we should pitch in for this beautiful piece from Coffin Couches. Mother's Day is right around the corner after all and it would actually complement Grannie Annie's funky home decor.

On a side note: Isn't it interesting that used coffins cannot be resold (by law) for dead bodies due to health and safety issues; however, they can be recycled and re-purposed for the living?

Methinks that if I owned Coffin Couches -- which would be fabulous! -- I would focus on some more interesting "body" copy on the home page (given that the products have so much character they're just screaming for some left-of-center marketing support) and relegate the biohazardous text to a secondary page. Otherwise, it's a bit off-putting!

A mi me gusta la playa!

So, what’s the best way to end an absolutely perfect vacation? By coming home to a week of springtime, sunshine, warmth, budding trees and daffodils. And leaving work on time to go to little league practice and ice cream socials at school. Oh and spending the weekend riding bikes and jumping on the neighbors' new trampoline. From now until late August (ignoring the snow this week), I should be happy!

And speaking of perfect vacations—from smooth flights that got into Puerto Vallarta early (yes, early!) to glorious, cloudless days spent oceanside with mountain views all around and cruise ships coming in/out of port—I finally got my TripAdvisor review posted.

The only issue I have with my review: I wrote NATO instead of NAFTA. Silly wabbit. Must slow down . . . or get an editor! Or better yet, give TripAdvisor some usability feedback for the next version of their site: the capability to modify a posting after it goes live would be fabulous.

Anyhoo, thank you mom for yet another week of heaven. You're pretty fly (for a white girl).

Communication Breakdown

My girlfriend sent me an email about a medium named Rebecca Rosen who her cousin and aunt just utilized and both had "amazing sessions." Not my thing at all, a little scary, religious views notwithstanding.

However, it did prompt my mother and me to chat about communicating with each other after she dies. Given that we talk 20X/week, the following questions seemed obvious: "Mom, is it possible that there is anything you'll still need to say that you haven't already told me?" and, "if so, can you say it in the next 20 years so I don't have to pay anyone to tell me more after you're gone?"

Knowing my mom's penchant for clipping, circling and sharing myriad articles of interest, as well as taking copious notes during her radio talk shows and occasional Oprah viewing, I now have a sneaking suspicion that my mom is going to contact me from afar on a daily basis with interesting tidbits from heaven.

I think I'll need to foster my own skills as a medium to save some money.
